Itinerary
On the first leg of the river participants will learn how to paddle and control the raft. This part of the river is very calm, an ideal place to teach first-timers the basics of paddling in the boat. The second stage is part of the Bukovica River. From here, civilization is left behind and for the next 16 kilometres of rafting are through untouched nature deep in the Neretva canyon.
The group will pass by the canyon of Šištica with its 26 m high waterfall. This part of the Neretva Canyon is the narrowest - only 2.5 m wide and over 20 m deep. After a 10 minute break to enjoy the beach, the group will set off to the mouth of the Raktinica Canyon-- a wild and unforgiving place few have visited. At around 13:30 there will be a second break for a snack, swim, and a dive from the high rocks for the braver ones.
The raft will pass through the huge Neretva Canyon, which in some places towers over 1000 metres above the river. This is also the spot to sight some of the endemic plant species, wild goat and other wild animals. There are many rapids in this part of the canyon (Ploče, Blizanci, Osmica, S, Kalajdžija’s creek, Štrojila) and the skipper will instruct the group on when and how to paddle, as well as remind them of safety directives. After a short break in Proplavi village the rafters will head for the strongest and wildest rapid on the trip - Džajića buk 5. The day ends around 16:00, back at the restaurant - Stari Mlin - for a late lunch of fish or veal, vegetables and home made traditional plum brandy “Šljivovica”.
