Skakavac Waterfall Hike

This medium-level Green Hike to the top of the waterfall along a mountain road begins from the foothills below Seven Sources. Skakavac is the largest continually flowing waterfall in Bosnia and Herzegovina, at 98 metres.

The group will take a public bus and head north from Sarajevo to the village of Nahorevo, named after a German (Nahor) who was a shepherd hundreds of years ago in this little valley. From the foothills below Seven Sources the group will begin a medium-level Green Hike along a mountain road to the top of the waterfall. Skakavac is the largest continually flowing waterfall in Bosnia and Herzegovina, at 98 metres. A break and some tea or coffee later, it's time to head down thick Beech forests to the base of the waterfall. This place affords a fantastic view of water, mist and forest. Participants will then find their way back through the forest to the village, and down to the hunting lodge for a cold drink and some locally produced fresh young cheese.

This hike through pine and beech forests is very pleasant even during the hot summer months. The area is replete with beautiful waterfalls, views of Sarajevo, medieval gravestones and wildlife.
