You will need to make your own way to Foca.

Directions by bus: take the 7:45 or 8:15 bus to Foca, departing from the bus station "Istocno Sarajevo" (to get to "Istocno Sarajevo" take the trolleybus from the Centre to Dobrinja, line 103. Exit the trolley bus at the last station and continue down the road for another 150 metres to the Bus station). Get out at the main bus station in Foca (after about 1.5hrs) where you will be picked up by our partners from Highlander. They will drive you back to the station at end of the day. Notes:

The Tara is one of the four beautiful white-water rivers in Bosnia and Herzegovina that offer professionally guided rafting tours. The Tara river ranks among Europe's best for class II - IV rafting. This river offers pleasant surprises with its stunning wilderness and unforgettable landscapes. The skippers from Highlander are certified by the International Rafting Federation.

A jewel amongst the world's natural heritage spots, the Tara River boasts the largest canyon in Europe. The river follows the border with Montenegro, and is a 140 kilometre natural wonder. The 1,300 metre canyon has given rise to some of the best rafting and kayaking in Europe. This oasis and protected area has a long tradition of extreme water sport as well as easy family outings, and can accommodate the needs of a wide range of outdoor enthusiasts.

Participants can choose to arrive on the morning of the rafting trip, but it is recommended that they arrive at Foča the afternoon before the trip, and stay overnight on the banks of the Tara River. If participants opt for the latter, the package includes accommodation for one night in one of the bungalows in the canyon, as well as dinner and breakfast.

Participant guidelines

The rafting is class II-IV (low to high difficulty) depending on the season and the water level of the river. The total time involved is three to five hours.

What to bring: T-shirt, swimming costume, sneakers or sandals for use in the water, one litre of water, hat, sun block, fleece, rain gear, towel, change of clothes and camera.

What is included: one breakfast, one barbeque lunch, safety gear, wet suit, insurance, and experienced rafting skippers.

What is not included: transport from Sarajevo to location and back, and extra drinks at lunch.
